
The Dorchester and Springboard - Major Winners at the Profile Sailing Cup 2009 The Dorchester won the 3rd annual staging of the Profile Sailing Cup, with the boutique hotel group The Eton Collection taking the runner’s up spot after two days of highly competitive racing on the Solent and a fantastic networking programme that included dinner at the prestigious Royal Yacht Squadron in Cowes. The regatta also raised in excess of £6,000 during the gala dinner for the regatta’s official charity, The Springboard Charitable Trust.
A strong field of competitors from the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism industries took to the water on 22-23rd September 2009 on a fleet of Beneteau 40.7 yachts to compete in a series of five races over the two day regatta. Competitors included The Dorchester, Eton Collection, Royal Automobile Club, Small Luxury Hotels, Profile Global Hospitality Recruitment and Blackberry. The Dorchester team put in an impressive performance, winning 3 of the 5 races, closely followed by the Eton Collection in second place and Profile Global Hospitality in third. The team from the Royal Automobile Club won a special award for the most improved teamwork and performance, with 6th, 5th, 4th, 3rd and 2nd places respectively across the series of five races. Commenting on The Dorchester’s victory, Roland Fasel, General Manager, commented: “Everybody looks forward to the Profile Sailing Cup as it is such a great opportunity to catch up with industry friends and colleagues. I am extremely proud of The Dorchester team who clearly demonstrate a winning formula on the waves as well as on dry land! It will certainly be a privilege to display the Profile Sailing Cup for the next year"
